從 2001 年起，在台大計中默默的建置了 Debian & Ubuntu 高品質 mirror 服務，不但提供台灣 Debian & Ubuntu 等自由軟體發展最為重要的養份，其位於高速的學術網路上，亞洲許多鄰近發展中國家都將之設為 mirror 服務中繼站 (syncproxy)，透過其高速學術網路頻寬更嘉惠了週邊國家的軟體學術發展。
近來由於服務的機器過於老舊，服務不太穩定，開放探尋其他可能可以取代的機器及頻寬 (不排除其他單位提供)。
目前儲存資料約 4.1 TB，故障之前 output (含台灣及亞洲各國) 日流量約 1 TB/day，月流量 30 TB/month，每日 input 流量 (主要從美西及瑞典) 約 5–6 GB/day，若各位有合適的機器與頻寬，請不吝幫忙。
